Behind The Scenes Issue #6

We had a blast putting together this issue. Maybe it was a bit of pent up energy from being in lock down and not publishing our summer issue. We went back and forth a few times about the theme and quickly agreed it needed to be light and optimistic but also insightful. There has been far too much negativity and fear around the world over the past few months – this issue needed to be a stark departure from that.

We wanted to do something fresh on the cover, something different from the usual gorgeous model in an amazing location. This image needed to make you smile automatically and give a good sense of the vibe of the content to follow. We hope we achieved our goal with this shot of Kendall at Cove Bay, St. Lucy. Convincing our model to participate was easy – what 8 year old wouldn’t want to explore a grove of coconut trees while eating an unlimited supply of popsicles? A special thanks to Ralph Lauren and the sales team at Limegrove for trusting our vision to pair this ethereal outfit with the delicious (and sometimes sticky) flavours from Smiley Snowcones.
We fell in love with Cove Bay during the cover shoot and headed back to explore the area while shooting this issue’s fashion spread featuring alluring pieces from Always Summer. Watching the sunrise that morning almost made us forget about the 4:30am call time!

Another highlight for us this issue was meeting the group of exceptional kids. The energy on set was contagious and solidified the theme for the issue. They are all stars in the making and successful in their own rights. We look forward to following their journeys and supporting Bajan youth.
Thanks to the writers, stylist, photographers, make up artist, property managers and all the other people who helped us to create issue six! Check out www.livingbarbados.com for more pictures and videos of the making of this issued
